Devotional Hour at the Cross followed by The Liturgy of Good Friday, 3rd April – 1.00pm
Good Friday is the most solemn and reflective day of the Church’s year as we mark the crucifixion, suffering, and death of Jesus Christ. We will begin a Devotional Hour at the Cross with a series of reflections and hymns, interspersed with times of silent prayer and reflection.
This is then followed by The Liturgy of Good Friday itself, a service which focuses on the themes of suffering, redemption, and the profound love of God for humanity.
The readings from Scripture recount the Passion of Christ, highlighting the depth of his suffering and the significance of his sacrifice. The atmosphere is one of mourning and contemplation, as we gather to remember the ultimate act of love that defines our faith.
During the service, worshippers are invited to engage in the Veneration of the Cross, in which we honour the cross of Jesus.
Holy Communion is not celebrated on Good Friday but we share the sacrament reserved the night before.
