Weddings

We’re delighted that you’re considering celebrating your wedding at St Michael’s Church. Steeped in history and located in the historic heart of our picturesque town, this beautiful Grade I listed church has, for centuries, been the perfect setting for couples to exchange their vows before God.

A church wedding is so much more than a ceremony: it’s a moment of deep commitment, joy, and blessing. At St Michael’s, we believe that marriage is a gift from God, a covenant of love and faithfulness, and a journey best begun in the presence of God and the community.

Whether you’re a regular churchgoer or simply drawn to the beauty and meaning of a church wedding, we welcome you. Our clergy and team are here to support you every step of the way, from the legal requirements and planning, to preparing for the spiritual significance of your vows.

Can I get married at St Michael’s?

You can usually marry here if you live in the parish or have a qualifying connection, such as a family link or previous worship at the church. We’ll help you explore your options and guide you through the process, including reading of banns or applying for a licence.

What can I expect?

For more information on qualifying connections, visit the Church of England Weddings site: https://www.churchofengland.org/life-events/your-church-wedding/just-engaged/finding-church-your-wedding
