We are pleased to offer the Church of England’s Prayers of Love and Faith for couples who wish to give thanks for their relationship and to ask for God’s blessing on their life together.
Who are these prayers for?
The Prayers of Love and Faith are intended for couples in a committed and loving relationship who would like to mark their relationship before God in church and seek God’s grace and guidance for the future. This includes same-sex couples, as well as other couples who may feel drawn to affirm their relationship in a prayerful and meaningful way.
If you have ever wondered whether your relationship would be welcomed and affirmed in church, we want you to know that we would be delighted to hear from you.
How are the prayers used?
The Prayers of Love and Faith are used within the context of an existing act of worship, such as a regular service of Evening Prayer. They are not currently authorised as a separate stand-alone service. Within that service, there is an opportunity to give thanks for your relationship, to hear God’s word, and to receive prayers asking for God’s blessing, love and guidance for your shared life. The exact shape of the service can be discussed and tailored so that it is both personal and prayerful, reflecting your story with warmth, dignity and care.

We are committed to offering a generous and welcoming space in which your love and commitment to one another may be affirmed and blessed by God, and where you can be held in the prayer and support of the Christian community.
