A church full of Christmas magic
Our beautiful 15th-century church will be filled with more than 80 real Christmas trees, alongside a small display of alternative Christmas trees. Each will be imaginatively decorated by local businesses, schools, charities, clubs and other organisations, creating a spectacular display that celebrates the creativity and diversity of our local community.
You’ll also find our Memory Tree, sponsored by William Purves Funeral Directors, where visitors can leave a message in memory of a loved one. It offers a quiet, reflective space amid the festive celebrations.
Supporting our local community
The Christmas Tree Festival is about more than beautiful trees. It brings people together while raising money for worthwhile causes. Last year, the festival raised £3,000 for North Northumberland Hospice Care, alongside vital funds to help maintain our historic church. This year, we are delighted to be supporting The Community Centre @NE66 in Alnwick as our partner charity. We are proud of the fantastic work they do in our community and hope to make a significant donation from the proceeds of this year’s festival.
The festival also gives local businesses and organisations a chance to showcase their work in a fun and creative way, while playing their part in a special event that brings our town and the wider community together. We are grateful to Alnwick Town Council and Northumberland Estates, whose help and support make this event possible.
Decorate a tree
We welcome businesses, schools, charities, clubs and other organisations who would like to create their own festive display. [Details of how to order a tree can be found here]
Volunteer
We are always grateful for extra help in making the festival a success. If you would like to volunteer, please get in touch with Janet Pibworth.
Whether you come to admire the trees, enjoy the festive atmosphere, remember someone special or support a great local cause, we look forward to welcoming you to St Michael’s.
Come and share the magic of Christmas with us!
